Remote support blossoms at Interflora with VNC®
RealVNC helps to deliver fast and cost effective remote IT support to Australian florists
9th September 2009: For birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions, flowers have to arrive at the right place at the right time. That's why Interflora Australia - one of the world's largest and best known flower and gift relay companies - is now using VNC® Enterprise Edition software to provide remote IT support for its 1,200 florists spread across Australia.
This means that the Interflora helpdesk team based at the company's head office in Melbourne can remotely control and manage any computer at any of their florists and solve problems immediately, from fixing simple software bugs to helping with the vital online ordering system.
Without the need to guide users through complicated, time-consuming instructions over the phone, problems are sorted out more rapidly, downtime has been cut significantly and IT support costs reduced. The VNC Chat function even creates a quick and easy channel of online communication between the user and help desk to further speed up the process.
"As part of our investment in new IT helpdesk services we wanted a solution that was easy to deploy and would allow us to take full remote control of PC desktops to solve problems straight away," says Peter Roderick, Manager Information Systems at Interflora. "If there is a fault with the PC or online ordering system, it has an immediate impact on business and the last thing most florists want to do is spend time on the phone with our help desk. We looked at alternatives but RealVNC not only offered a feature-rich and reliable solution, but its flexible licensing made it very attractive when it came to cost and deployment."
Interflora Australia is currently in the process of rolling out 1,200 VNC Enterprise Edition licenses across its florists from Sydney and Melbourne to remote locations such as Karratha and Mt. Isa. VNC Server runs on every computer and the VNC Deployment Tool with a single click license management facility, makes it easy for the IT helpdesk team to install the VNC software and ensure all florists run the latest version. It also allows administrators to remotely configure the systems and conduct checks to optimize performance.
"With VNC in place we can make the best use of our IT helpdesk resources and most importantly, our florists are delighted with the new service, which helps to ensure customers can rely on Interflora to deliver their gifts and flowers on time to the people who matter most," adds Interflora's Peter Roderick.
